Fossbox celebrates Software Freedom Day with the VCS
Life is getting tougher for VCOs and finding the
funds to replace computer equipment regularly is not going to be
easy. All kinds of organisations could benefit from being able to get
longer life out of existing equipment rather than buying new – and
the environment benefits too.
Software Freedom Day is a global event showcasing what Free Software can do and we are working with FOSS organisations in East Africa as well as the UK to help organisations develop efficiently and sustainably.
Who's it for?
Anyone who looks after, manages or helps with the
ICT for a charity, voluntary or community group, environmental
group, or social enterprise – 'accidental techies' are especially
welcome, information workers and IT managers will also find it
useful.

equipment with the very latest Ubuntu Desktop and server systems
- Demonstration of Free Software for Windows and Portable Apps suite

(anything 5 years old or less) or our training suite of laptops
- Introduction to some of the Free Software available for Windows or Ubuntu
- How-to's on some common tasks for VCOs
- How to access free online documentation,
tutorials, and support communities for Free Software
